prāṇāyāma-pratyāhāra-dhāraṇā-dhyāna-
samādhyaṣṭāṃga-yogānuṣṭhānaniṣṭha-tapaścakravarti-
anādyavicchinna-śrīśankarācārya-guru-paraṃparāprāpta-
ṣaḍdarśana-sthāpanācārya-vyākhyāna-siṃhāsanādhīśvara-
sakala-nigamāgama-sāra-hṛdaya-sānkhya-traya-pratipādaka-
vaidika-mārga-pravartaka-sarva-tantra-svatantra-ādirājadhānī-
vidyānagara-mahārājadhānī-karṇāṭaka-siṃhāsana-pratiṣṭhāpanācārya-
śrīmadrājādhirājaguru-bhūmanḍalācārya-
ṛṣya-śṛṃga-puravarādhīśvara-tunga-bhadrā-tīravāsi-
śrīmad-vidyāśankara-pādapadmārādhaka-śrīmajjagadguru-
śrīmadabhinavavidyātīrtha-mahāsvāmi-gurukara-kamalasanjāta-
śrīmajjagadguru-śrībhāratītīrtha-mahāsvāminān tatkara-kamalasanjāta-
śrīmajjagadguru-śrīvidhuśekharabhāratī-mahāsvāmināṃ ca
caraṇāravindayoḥ sāṣṭānga-praṇāmān samarpayāmaḥ ||

The Birudāvali is a formal series of honorific titles offered to the Jagadgurus of the Śṛṅgeri Śārada Pīṭham. It recognizes their scholarship, spiritual discipline, and role in preserving the Advaita tradition from Ādi Śaṅkarācārya onward.

śrīmat-paramahaṃsa-parivrājaka-ācārya-varya — śrīmat-paramahaṃsa – has achieved the highest form of jnanam or knowledge of Atman, parivrājaka – a Sanyasi, ācārya – spiritual teacher, varya: is respected or eminent

pada-vākya-pramāṇa-pārāvāra-pārīṇa — words (of scriptures or shAstras), pramāṇa-pārāvāra-pārīṇa - expert who has crossed the ocean of the 'Pramanas' (means of knowledge)

yama-niyamāsana-prāṇāyāma-pratyāhāra-dhāraṇā-dhyāna-samādhyaṣṭāṃga-yogānuṣṭhāna-niṣṭha — One who is firmly dedicated to the practice of the eight limbs of Yoga, including moral discipline (Yama), observances (Niyama), postures (Asana), breath control (Pranayama), sensory withdrawal (Pratyahara), concentration (Dharana), meditation (Dhyana), and absorption (Samadhi);

tapas-cakravarti — A 'Chakravarti' of austerity, meaning a supreme sovereign or an emperor in terms of rigorous spiritual practices

anādya-avicchinna — eternal and unbroken

śrīśankarācārya-guru-paraṃparā-prāpta — lineage starting from Adi Shankaracharya (an ancient and continuous tradition of Gurus);

ṣaḍdarśana-sthāpana-ācārya — A teacher who has established the 'ṣaḍ-darshanas', the six systems of Indian philosophy;

vyākhyāna-siṃhāsanādhīśvara — The ruler seated on the throne of vyakhyana or discourses;

sakala-nigam-āgama-sārahṛdaya — One who is the essence of all the Vedas and Agamas, the heart of all scriptural knowledge;

sānkhya-traya-pratipādaka — An exponent of the three main themes of the Sankhya philosophy;

vaidika-mārga-pravartaka — initiator of the Vaidika way, guiding people on the path of Vedic teachings;

sarvatantra-svatantra — independent in the mastery of all systems of philosophy and teachings (Tantras);

ādi-rājadhānī-vidyānagara-mahārājadhānī — the main seat of all vaidika learning, the seat of wisdom;

karṇāṭaka-siṃhāsana-pratiṣṭhāpana-ācārya — The Acharya who establishes the throne in Karnataka,

śrīmad-rājādhirāja-guru — The Guru of the most powerful of kings.

bhūmaṃḍala-ācārya — Teacher of the whole world,

ṛṣya-śṛṃga-pura-varādhīśvara — The lord of the town of Rishyasringa (where Sringeri Sharada Peetham is located),

tungabhadrā-tīra-vāsi — The ones who lived on the banks of the (sacred) river Tungabhadra,

śrīmad-vidyā-śankara-pāda-padmārādhaka — Srimad Sri Vidyashankara, whose lotus feet were worshipped,

śrīmad Jagadguru śrīmad-abhinava-vidyātīrtha-mahāsvāmi-guru-kara-kamala-saṃjāta — Srimad Jagadguru Abhinava Vidyatheertha Mahaswami, the great Guru from whose lotus hands was prepared,

śrīmad jagadguru śrībhāratītīrtha-mahāsvāminān tat-kara-kamala-saṃjāta — Srimad Jagadguru SriBharati Tirtha Mahaswami, from whose lotus hands was prepared,

śrīmad jagadguru śrīvidhuśekhara-bhāratī-mahāsvāminān ca caraṇa-araviṃdayo-sāṣṭāṃga-praṇāmān-samarpayāmaḥ — Srimad Jagadguru Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji's lotus feet also, I offer my sashtanga praNamas or prostration.

The Birudavali is a series of titles praising the Sringeri Amnaya peetham and the Gurus in its Parampara, and offering our praNamams to them.

The respected, eminent Acharyas that are Sanyasis who have achieved the highest form of jnanam or knowledge of Atman, are experts in the words of scriptures or shAstras, and have crossed the ocean of the 'Pramanas' (means of knowledge); are firmly dedicated to the practice of the eight limbs of Yoga, including moral discipline (Yama), observances (Niyama), postures (Asana), breath control (Pranayama), sensory withdrawal (Pratyahara), concentration (Dharana), meditation (Dhyana), and absorption (Samadhi); 'Chakravartis' of austerity (supreme sovereign or emperors in terms of rigorous spiritual practices), from an eternal and unbroken lineage starting from Adi Shankaracharya (an ancient and continuous tradition of Gurus); Acharyas who have established the 'Shad-darshanas', the six systems of Indian philosophy; rulers seated on the throne of vyakhyana or discourses; who are the essence of all the Vedas and Agamas, the heart of all scriptural knowledge; exponents of the three main themes of the Sankhya philosophy; initiator of the Vaidika way, guiding people on the path of Vedic teachings; independent in the mastery of all systems of philosophy and teachings (Tantras).
