Śrī Kṛṣṇa's Līlās – Mother Yaśodā Sees the Fourteen Worlds in Baby Kṛṣṇa
Story So Far
Kṛṣṇa's divine childhood in Gokula continues. He has already defeated Pūtanā and Tṛṇāvarta, though the villagers—protected by Yoga-māyā, see Him only as their beloved child. Kaṁsa's fear grows, but in Vraja the days are filled with innocence, affection, and the sweetness of babyhood.
The Love of Gokula for Their Two Divine Children

Baby Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma, still little enough to be carried in strong arms, were the very heart of Gokula.
Every morning, mothers in the village competed silently for the chance to hold them, touch their soft cheeks, or sing them lullabies. The two children glowed with a charm that softened even the sternest elder. Mother Yaśodā and mother Rohiṇī poured out their hearts in caring for the boys—bathing them, feeding them, dressing them, and praying constantly for their well-being. Nanda Mahārāja often paused his duties just to watch the boys crawl or blink in wonder at the sunlight. To the entire village, they were not future heroes or divine beings—they were their babies, worthy of all tenderness.
Villagers would gather around them with sweet voices, offering toys, chanting blessings, and exchanging stories of their tiny smiles. Even the cows seemed drawn to them, bending their heads gently whenever the boys were carried past. Love filled the air of Vraja like fragrance from blooming flowers.
In this ocean of affection, Kṛṣṇa shone most brightly in the heart of one person, his Mother Yaśodā, whose maternal love for Him surpassed even the devotion of the gods.

The Vision in Baby Kṛṣṇa's Mouth
One peaceful day, mother Yaśodā sat with baby Kṛṣṇa on her lap, feeding Him with deep affection. Her heart brimmed with a joy known only to the mothers of Vraja. Just as the child was finishing His feeding, He let out a gentle baby yawn. At that moment, Yaśodā looked into His little mouth - and her world changed.
Inside Kṛṣṇa's mouth she saw:
- The vast sky
- All the planetary systems
- The shining sun and soothing moon
- The winds and the fires
- Mighty oceans and flowing rivers
- Mountains, forests, islands
- All creatures—moving and still
- The entire fourteen worlds, spread out in infinite space
Everything - creation or srshti, sustenance or stithi, and dissolution or laya- shone within the tiny mouth of her child. Her heart throbbed. Awe washed over her. She wanted to close her eyes, not out of fear, but sheer astonishment at a vision beyond human understanding. How could her Kṛṣṇa, her baby, hold the universe inside Him?
Yet by Yoga-māyā's sweet power, the next moment Yaśodā forgot the vision, and her motherly love returned like a wave. She simply lifted her child closer, kissing His forehead, praising destiny that He was safe in her arms.
This marks the gentle beginning of Kṛṣṇa's toddlerhood, soon to be filled with the playful adventures and mischief that endear Him to the world.
